MABFAN NEWSLETTER # 21 (March 2000)

Michael A. Burstein's "Friends Across the Net" Newsletter

_YES! YES! YES!_

Ahem.

I am very pleased to announce that, for the first time ever, one of my stories have been nominated for a Nebula Award. "Reality Check," my first novella, is on the final ballot. This is an award presented by Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, so in a way it's my fellow writers who are patting me on the back and saying that I've made it. If you want to learn more about the Nebulas, check out the webpage http://www.sfwa.org/awards .

By the way, for those of you who missed this story, the ANALOG website (at http://www.analogsf.com) will soon be featuring it, so you'll have a chance to read it. This pointer especially applies to those of you eligible to nominate in this year's Hugo Awards...

_OUT RIGHT NOW_

The March ANALOG with the beautiful cover has come and gone, but that means (in this year 2000, at least), that another Michael A. Burstein story is on the horizon. And this one's a collaboration, so you get two writers for the price of one. The story, "The Turing Testers," is a short-short written with the help of my friend Joseph J. Lazzaro. It appears in the April 2000 ANALOG, which should be available in the usual locations now.

_COMING SOON_

There is, sadly, one change to note here. My streak of stories in a row is coming to an end. My next story will not be in the May ANALOG, but in the June issue. Please make a note of it.

_UPCOMING APPEARANCES_

Last minute news: I've decided to attend Lunacon this year, so look for me there later this month.
