HEADLINE: "Nor Through Inaction" Is Now Out In ANALOG

Well, I didn't win the Hugo. The Best Novelette Hugo went to "We Will Drink a Fish Together..." by Bill Johnson. The story is excellent, and the author is a very nice guy who was absolutely thrilled to win. I encourage you to go out and read this story if you haven't yet.

And there was more to Worldcon than the Hugos, of course. I got to attend the SFWA Business Meeting, moderate a panel with Larry Niven on it, and whack a flamingo. (Don't ask.) I also got to meet lots of wonderful friends and fans, such as the incomparable Steve Orso, who is probably reacting to his name with the same equanimity and calm I saw him display throughout the convention. (Hi Steve!) (Now he's shaking his head with a bemused look on his face.) In any event, even without winning that rocket statuette, I had a great time.

But enough of that. Onto better news...

_OUT RIGHT NOW_

The October ANALOG is now on the shelves, and in it is "Nor Through Inaction," my collaboration with Charles Ardai. As I've already mentioned this story here numerous times, I won't go into details again, except to remind you that if you want a copy, you'll need to act fast, as always.

I've also already mentioned "The Parallels of Penzance," my collaboration with Stanley Schmidt which was to appear in the Bucconeer Guest of Honor book. The book actually appeared at Worldcon, with the name PIECES OF SIX. Believe it or not, I was autographing copies for people all during the convention. Now, since this small press item will probably not be available at your local bookstore, let me give you the full details. If you wish to order a copy, send a check to Bucconeer, P.O. Box 314, Annapolis Junction, MD 20701. The hardcover is $25, the softcover is $10, and the shipping charge is $5 when ordering up to 5 copies. (The ad says to write for shipping costs if ordering more than 5 copies.) The book also contains work by Bucconeer Guests of Honor other than Stanley Schmidt, including Milton A. Rothman, Charles Sheffield, C.J. Cherryh, and Michael Whelan.

_APPEARANCES_

Are you kidding? Worldcon was exhausting. I'm not making another public appearance for at least a few months.

But on the Internet...ah, that's a different story. ANALOG has arranged for me to be the featured guest for an on-line chat the night of Tuesday, September 15, at 8 PM Eastern Time. Check out http://www.cybling.com for more information. Hope to see some of you there!
